We finally got around to doing the back patio project. With all the city permits and various inspections required, it took several months—longer than we expected, but we’re happy with the results.

The decking is a composite material, not wood, so it is guaranteed to hold up for a long time without warping or splintering. We wanted a darker shade to match the house’s interior floors, but we were told that the dark surface would get super hot in the summer, so we went with a lighter color.
