Banff
In Banff we toured around the main strip and did some shopping for a little while, then headed over to the Banff Springs hotel, which is a really beautiful place and looks like a medieval castle sitting in the woods. There’s a hill behind the hotel for sledding — we bought a couple of small sleds at a local hardware store and took a few runs down the hill. It was a lot of fun but too cold to stick around for very long.
Later we took a gondola up Sulphur Mountain in Banff. There’s an observation deck up there, a small restaurant and a gift shop. The 360° view from the observation deck is breathtaking: snow-capped mountains as far as the eye can see, and it was cold up there.
